I'm very surprised by some of the more negative reviews of this book as I thought it was absolutely fantastic! After enjoying the first book in this series, I had high hopes for this book. Never bad, and on a few occasions manages to be quite good. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 18, 2016.

First things first, I've not read the Vagrant, but having received a free EArc of The Seven (Book 3) I dived right into it and then realised that I really should read, at least, the previous book.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I was unsure of how this book would go for me with a child as the "hero", but the story had such a natural flow that it worked well and Vesper is written as a pretty fascinating character with a unique strength of her own. I've never been drawn to typical "middle earth fantasy" types of stories but this is more of a weird futuristic sci-fi post-apocalyptic magic fantasy...That's the best I can do to describe it.

I'm intrigued enough to buy the final book in the series, once it drops in price a bit.

Loved Peter Newman’s The Vagrant I haven’t ready anything else quite like it.
