J'assistais souvent par le passé aux premières (tapis rouge) de films: [Cinéma] SPLIT - Explication et interprétation, [Contest] Screening of PASSENGERS in Montreal, [Cinéma] THE LIGHTHOUSE - Mini-critique et explication, [Contest over] Screening of THE SHALLOWS in Montreal, [Cinéma] IT COMES AT NIGHT - Interprétation et explication de certaines scènes, [Contest over /Concours terminé] CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR (DVD), [Contest] Montreal Premiere of ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, [Critique Cinéma] TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT (3D). Two families become isolated in the mountains because of this with little to no idea of what happens to those who are sick. the dog could have easily interacted with this sick unseen person and followed them to the house. The dog did look like he was in pretty bad shape though, almost so much so that he couldn't have made it that close to the house without help (and Andrew isn't made of muscle, that's for sure). We are never shown any kind of proof that the new family was even sick, we only really know they were trying to rob the house of supplies.

Il ne peut éviter l’inévitable. What do you think about those two guys they met on their way to Will's family? On pense à Descartes.

My biggest question is how is this sickness spread? From the nature of what was suggested in the movie and the context clues I believe that whatever they turn into can be classified in almost the same way as a skin-walker.

Homeowner kid's dreams, seemed, to me, real in a sense as well. Unless of course he shot Stanley?

Was he sleepwalking? Also, when the dog goes running off into the woods, no one ever offers up a guess as to what did it.

The suspense only makes sense if all or at most of your questions gets answered by the end and that specific moment leaves jaw-dropped, but none of that in this movie. If by touching a hand transfers it, how is that different that touching the same counter? He …

I don't see how it makes sense.

Here is the biggest piece of evidence supporting the idea that they are not afraid of zombie monsters: they have had the time to get their whole water purification and electricity generating systems up an running smoothly, and board up the entire house, and create a sick room, and watch their grandpa die, before the events of the film. Nothing had any explanation, I get what the director wanted to go for (A Shutter Island type film), but the thing with psycho-thrillers like that is that there is enough information to make an argument for any ending, instead this director just ripped out all evidence for a single ending and expects that to be enough to make it mysterious. People mention the dad's keys but that might just be to unlock from the outside.

Now, that doesn't mean that we cannot guess at what the director would figure was the most realistic series of events, or what we consider to be the most realistic series of events.

I feel we should also keep in mind that this is a movie and sometimes we have to think outside the box.

I have to think the gun either got left behind during the shuffle of Stanley running off earlier that day (less likely because all guns are accounted for in a survival situation like this) OR the skin-walker that may have attacked Stanley attacked a person who carried a gun. They watched it consume Bud.

Will's family had no reference to assume any of Pauls kin were sick other than a brief mention of Travis' nightmares (which they have no reference to connect to a sickness). The mother kisses Travis on the cheek right when they start their quarantine, and the dad had to take off his mask during the stand-off with the other family.

I think the way this movie incorporated the real human emotions that would tag along with the nature of the film was amazing. Then Travis dies of the sickness. Doesn't Paul keep the keys on him all of the time? Travis hallucinating the open door is another example of just seeing the most frightening thing you can imagine.

Seconde hypothèse: Oui. It was mentioned that the symptoms showed in about a day.

There was no indication that he was first experiencing nightmares or hallucinations for weeks before that point. This storyline wouldn't explain the dog appearing again or how the door unlocked though. This is important because if they have an established time of innoculation for the grandpa, then that means they have an idea of how he got it.

Maybe they saw activity on TV that would prompt them to cover so many means of transmission. The mom even looks worried at one point and asks if he's sure about what he's seeing and hearing. However, if there are zombie like creatures running around, why doesn't anyone seem more concerned about it when they go outside? With that being said I am glad I found this discussion because I needed closure.

I definitely think it is more plausible that Travis got Andrew sick, not the other way around which is what I think the movie suggests on the surface.

On s’attache à des symboles. Good point about the gun just being out there...but there has to be a reason because Travis doesn't really need a gun when he's out there. I've got goosebumps replaying everything in my head. (#spoiler), [we have no idea why waiting a day (or three) is enough for Travis's father to decide someone isn't ill. if fact, they could all be sick before Andrew's dad breaks in and just misjudge the disease's gestation period.

burning the bodies could just be a precaution, as plague victims were burned to stop the spread in ROMAN times.]
Have you seen the movie yet? I agree completely with this, however, my biggest issue with this theory is that the dog seeing something in the woods was a huge part of the marketing campaign and as we know everything the director left in and left out was heavily thought upon. -IF they are correct about the method of inoculation and the timing till symptoms arise (one day) then both families are healthy when they meet. I agree with you that there are probably a lot of clues to be found in the actors' actions/voice cues. When they found the dog it looked like it had been dragged inside by the looks of it. Feel free to disagree with me here, I'm only really confident of the stuff above. When he shot the guy the first thing I yelled was, "no!" And why I support this idea: This movie has a strong theme that supports this idea. The first is that the burning of the bodies isn't a particularly ridiculous idea even if the bodies aren't reanimating.

The general consensus seems to be that Travis's nightmare about sneaking outside to look for the dog at night was real. My only question would be how much assuming are the characters doing into what symptoms are present in the sickness?

To me the possibility of a monster stalking the family would add another very interesting layer to this film that in my opinion the director might have in mind. -The dog returns and brings the disease with it.

I at first considered maybe they became reanimated or something but at the end of the movie I figured the family was just wayyyy over cautious/hysterical.

My biggest question is what caused the climax between the two families? If one person is a house was sick then wouldn't they all be?

Central premise: The "It" in the title refers to adulthood, and the skepticism, jadedness, and loss of innocence that comes with it.

I do believe he found the dog writhing in pain (the noises we heard) and dragged him back in. This was never any question. I don't really like this one though, so much time had elapsed since Bud died to his grandson becoming symptomatic, it doesn't seem plausible to me.

The main concern seems to be other survivors and the fear of infection, not getting eaten by zombies.

They just wanted to leave and not even take the animals but the paranoia and hysteria and distrust caused an ultimate down fall.

What is "coming at night"? But this movie gives you no conclusion of the plot.
