Then there’s the room of conspiracy theories about Satan’s existence, along with Steve’s (nonsensical) rhetoric regarding the prevailing Evil in this world, all of which leads the couple to question whether he’s bonkers or it really may be the Antichrist behind that door. I Trapped the Devil (Working Title: A Man in the Dark) is a Christmas-themed horror film. The four remaining passengers in the elevator all suspect each other of killing the salesman. Sarah and Ben become close while singling out the soldier.

But when Matt and his wife Karen show up unannounced at the home of his estranged brother Steve to celebrate the holidays, they are instead greeted with a horrifying surprise: trapped in the basement is a man.
Steve initially tries to turn Karen and Matt away just as David Ellington is turned away by the monks. Searching the lobby, they head to the bathroom and find the bag hidden under the sink filled with tools, making him more of a suspect. In theaters & VOD April 26.

The detectives review the camera of the mechanic entering the building and sees he had a bag with him, which he no longer has on the elevator with him. Lobo has a knack for gradually building tension and expertly handling genuinely frightening moments, as is evident in the scene where Karen confronts the being behind the door, holding a cross for protection, just in case.

That ambiguity is one of the aspects that Lobo – who clearly knows a thing or two about horror – nails in his by turns frightening and silly feature directorial debut. The temporary guard is identified as Ben Larson, who has a criminal record of assault and beating someone into a coma with a baseball bat.
