I read all the Dr Scarpetta's series back to back (but I won't buy the last one, Chaos, not yet, at £9.24, what is going on here?). But how can it be? I actually found this book a little boring and skimmed many pages. Bring back the old Kay Scarpetta Medical Examiner please Ms Cornwell. It’s clearly a surveillance film of Lucy taken almost twenty years ago. Tired story line - time to call it quits. I've read every Scarpetta book, some more than once, but this is the last one. Sorry!

2015-09-24Another gritty, world-weary tale of mayhem by masterful mysterian Cornwell (Flesh and Blood, 2014, etc.).Dr. Lucy gets more unbearable with every book, Marino is just used as the idiot slob and Benton is like an android. Honestly, I am getting dissatisfied as the series grows. And more and more exaggerated they get with each passing book. I don't understand Cornwell's intent with this series, but the plots strain credulity and Kay Scarpetta has become insufferably smug and elitist.
