Watching "The Bag Man", if nothing else, gives you a heightened appreciation of the lighting designers in the 1940s and 1950s, who were able to fill those noir screens with encroaching shadows, creating a palpable sense of impending doom, while never sacrificing clarity of image. Destined to be a short film I (and hopefully the rest of you) will be talking about long after that first viewing and a great example of subtle, but effective storytelling, Short of the Week is proud to present Jonathan & Josh Baker’s BAG MAN. Did it get you to watch the short and want to know more? On their Vimeo, personal website and within the film itself, the filmmakers intentionally don't reveal the contents of the bag (until, of course, they do) and I think that is a great storytelling device that they used to add another layer of mystery surrounding the the boys journey. We wanted to experiment with mixing genres – combining a small quiet exploratory journey with a broader sci-fi idea.
